Foreign media: Qatar asks Israel to apologize for the attack on Doha, and then will resume negotiations to mediate a ceasefire in Gaza

According to the US Axios news network local time, two informed sources revealed that Qatar asked Israel to apologize for the recent attack on Qatar's capital Doha, and then will resume negotiations to mediate the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

The report, citing two informed sources, said that Qatar’s Emir (Head of State) Tamim made the request during a meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Rubio in Doha on 16 local time. The report said that after Israel launched the attack on Doha, Qatar had suspended its role as a mediator. The Trump administration believes that it would be difficult to reach a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and release detainees without Qatar’s mediation.

Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu called Qatar a "hostel of terrorists" after the attack, and threatened to attack the country again in the future. For Netanyahu and his far-right coalition, an apology would now be an explosive political stance reversal. But an informed person said that Qatar understands Israel's political complexity and is willing to remain flexible in the latter's apology.

A senior Israeli official said that Israel had underestimated the scale of the crisis that could have caused an attack on Qatar, and that Netanyahu had realized that he had made a mistake. In addition, an informed source revealed that Qatar may agree that Israel apologizes for the deaths of Qatari security forces and pledges to compensate its family and no longer violate Qatar’s sovereignty.

Israel on Monday announced a “precise strike” against the leadership of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in Doha, Hamas said the Hamas negotiating delegation was discussing a latest ceasefire proposed by the United States at the time of the air strike. Five Palestinians and one Qatari security personnel were killed in the attack.

Qatar's Foreign Ministry spokesman, Mr. Anshari, said on Monday that the Gaza ceasefire negotiations are currently unrealistic and that mediation is meaningless in the case of Israel's attempt to assassinate negotiators and bomb the mediator state. he said Qatar's current focus is on defending national sovereignty and taking all necessary measures to prevent the attacks from repeating.
