According to AFP, the French senator Joel Gaio, who allegedly threw his head in champagne with the intention of sexually assaulting the National Assembly member Sandra Jose, announced on 20 October local time that he would resign at the beginning of October.
Gaio, 67, is accused of shaking his head in a champagne in Jose in November 2023, and is currently facing trial, but he denies all allegations, saying his resignation has nothing to do with the criminal case.
