"Expand cooperation from aviation logistics to economy, trade, finance and other fields", "enrich the connotation and extension of the Air Silk Road" and "expand from hard connectivity to soft connectivity to heart connectivity"... At the Zhengzhou-Kuala Lumpur Air Silk Road International Cooperation Forum held at Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Malaysia on 18th, guests from China and ASEAN countries look forward to accelerating the construction of cross-border "double hub" platform and helping the development of the Air Silk Road.

Create a model of "dual hub" cooperation

At present, air transport is increasingly playing the role of a bridge and link connecting the world. Guests at the meeting said that drawing on the experience of Zhengzhou-Luxembourg Airlines "dual hub" cooperation, China and Malaysia have great potential and promising prospects to jointly build a Zhengzhou-Kuala Lumpur "dual hub" cooperation model.

This was filmed by Malaysian Transport Minister Lu Mefou on September 18 at the Zhengzhou-Kyolampo “Air Silk Road” International Cooperation Forum held at Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Malaysia.

In his speech, Malaysia’s transport minister, Lu Mefou, pointed out that Malaysia is China’s second-largest trading partner in ASEAN and the largest source of imports.Through the “double hub” cooperation model, Malaysia-China air freight will further expand and mutual benefit and win.

In April this year, the two countries issued a joint statement stating that the two sides will carry out comprehensive aviation cooperation, strengthen civil aviation professional exchange, close air logistics cooperation between Kuala Lumpur International Airport and Zhengzhou New Zhen International Airport, and strive to realize the common vision of the "Air Silk Road" between China and ASEAN.

China's Embassy in Malaysia said that as a pioneer of the "Air Silk Road", Henan reached a consensus on cooperation with relevant Malaysian parties, marking a more solid pace in the construction of the "Air Silk Road".

Explore connectivity opportunities

Freight routes from the initial 1 weekly to 7 routes, cumulative transportation of goods 14,000 tons; in 2024, the Hanoi province with Malaysia trade value exceeded 16 billion yuan, this year's first seven months growth of 33.5%; Malaysia cumulative investment in Hanoi 70 enterprises ... rising trade data, frequent interaction and close humanitarian exchanges, became a lively footprint of China-Malay cooperation.

Muhd Izani Ghani, managing director of Malaysia Airport Holdings Co., Ltd., said that the "Air Silk Road" is not an abstract concept, but is embodied in opening up routes, carrying goods and deepening partnerships. Facts have proved that the Kuala Lumpur-Zhengzhou route has great potential. The strong demand of cross-border e-commerce and the synergy of belly cabin capacity of all-cargo aircraft and passenger aircraft make it one of the rapidly growing routes.

Efficient logistics, convenient customs and close collaboration continued to help open new markets. In August last year, the first Malaysian fresh food granite to enter the Chinese market landed in Hanoi, taking only 36 hours from the fruit garden to the ground in the middle of the plain. Malaysian peanuts, bamboo, coconut and other high-quality fruits also "fly" to Hanoi.

Sharing mutually beneficial cooperation results

To jointly build China-Malaysian "Air Silk Road" dual hub industrial park, promote Zhengzhou-Kyolampo "Air Silk Road" air freight cooperation, promote Southeast Asian excellent fruit and vegetables exports to China, sign an entry tourism charter aircraft cooperation project agreement ...

The guests said that under the guidance of aviation logistics, the two sides continued to interact and vividly demonstrated new achievements and new practices in economic and social development, and the cooperation is presenting a comprehensive, multi-level and diversified development trend.

Chen Wenhao, CEO of Malaysia Guolu Holdings Co., Ltd., who visited Henan, said in an interview with Xinhua News Agency that Henan's advanced level in cold chain logistics and other fields is impressive. "We are full of confidence in the prospects of cooperation, and look forward to using the'dual hub'platform to gather the strength of Malaysian and Chinese enterprises, speed up the implementation of projects, and create a new space for mutual benefit, win-win and common development."

Pete Degrenuncha, chief executive of Malaysia’s air cargo and logistics company, told reporters that the company and its Chinese partners had established a stable network of cooperation in only about a year, demonstrating the potential of cooperation between the two sides in cross-border e-commerce and logistics.

“Looking forward to the next three to five years, we look forward to effectively connecting the 1.4 billion people of China with 700 million consumers in Southeast Asia through close connections between Kuala Lumpur and Zhengzhou, allowing tens of millions of small and medium-sized enterprises in Southeast Asia to expand to a broader market,” he said.
