Recently, legendary short run athlete, Jamaican Bolt appeared at the live viewing of the Tokyo 2025 World Rally Championship in Japan. In an interview, he said: "When I climb the stairs, I will breathe."
Bolt is known as the "Flying Man" because he holds the world record for men's 100 meters and hasined this record since 2009 until now, with no surpass for 16 years. On August 16, 2009, Bolt won the 9 seconds 58 World Tennis Championship in Berlin, the first 100 meters record that humans have ever broken.
Since his retirement in 2017, Bolt’s daily life has changed dramatically, and time is no longer filled with training and competition schedules. Bolt says, “I usually send the kids to school. After coming back, if there’s nothing to do, I relax and watch TV at home until the kids come back. Sometimes it’s good to go to exercise.” The photo shows Bolt’s body is now twice as fat as an athlete, and under the white T-shirt can see a noticeable stomach.
But Bolt, 39, is pleased with his time at home and with his family and says, “I’ll spend some time playing with the kids until they start to bother me and I’ll go away.
Bolt said that although he did not like to go to the gym to exercise, he had retired for a while and had to do some exercise to maintain his health, for example, to start running again.
When asked why the new generation of short runners, despite the upgrading of their nails and technology, is not as fast as his generation, Bolt replied: “Do you want to know the real answer? we are more talented. This gap is more evident in men’s short runs. You can see that women’s projects are different, and they do run faster and faster.”
Bolt also said that he looks forward to taking his children to Beijing to watch the World Athletics Championships in 2027, because he won the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. "I'm excited because I can bring the kids and tell them: 'It's all happening here,' Bolt said. I've shown the kids videos and stuff, and they can roughly understand that championship moment."
