The lawyer of French President Macron and his wife brigitte said on September 17th that the Macron and his wife planned to submit scientific evidence to the American court to prove that brigitte was born female. The conspiracy theory claiming that Brigitte was born male has been circulating for a long time. The Macron and his wife first sued the French right-wingers who spread this statement in 2021. They won the first trial, but lost the case in the Court of Appeal in July this year, and have now brought the case to the Supreme Court. American right-wing Internet celebrity Candace Owens is now spreading the conspiracy theory that Brigitte was born male. The Macrons filed 22 defamation lawsuits against Owens in U.S. courts in July.

Owens, a U.S. far-right and podcast host, said last year she was willing to ¡°bet on the reputation of her entire career that Bridget is actually a man and her name should be Jean-Michel Troyer,¡± claiming that Bridget subsequently underwent a transgender surgery and lived and married as a woman.

Accusations of Bridget being a man's conspiracy theory first appeared on French far-right websites in September 2021 and then spread rapidly on the Internet. Conspiracy theorists claim Bridget Macron "never existed" but was played by her brother Jean-Michel Troyer after sex.

Bridget is suspicious of gender

In late 2021, Brigitte filed a defamation lawsuit against two French right-wingers who created this conspiracy theory. In September 2024, the Paris Court of First Instance found the two guilty and sentenced them to pay 8,000 euros to Brigitte and 5,000 euros to her brother Jean-Michel as compensation.

However, the Paris Court of Appeal overturned this judgment in July 2025, saying that their remarks were expressions of "goodwill", belonged to the category of * and did not constitute defamation. This caused more controversy. Some people misunderstood it as "the court confirmed the gender", but in fact, the court didn't rule Brigitte's gender, but only dealt with defamation. Macron and his wife have appealed to the French Supreme Court.

Owens also repeatedly spread the conspiracy on his podcast, claiming there was ¡°evidence¡± that Bridget was a man and linked it to more conspiracy theories.

In July this year, the Macrones filed 22 complaints against Evelyn at the U.S. High Court in Delaware, accusing her of ¡°ignoring all credible evidence¡± and conducting a ¡°global humiliation campaign¡± through these false statements.

Macron¡¯s lawyer, Tom Clare, has handled celebrity murder cases on several occasions and said on September 17 that Brigitte was ¡°extremely upset¡± by these allegations and believed those allegations would distract Macron¡¯s attention.

"Expert testimony will come out and the nature will be in line with scientific principles," said Clare, who did not disclose the specifics of the testimony, but said the Macrons were prepared to fully prove Owens'allegations "from both general and specific aspects." Claire stressed: "Brigitte must accept this process in a very public way, but she is determined to do everything she can to set the facts straight. We will provide the court with photos of Brigitte pregnancy and parenting."

Mrs. Macronby was 24 years younger and Bridget was her teacher when she was in high school. Bridget had three children with her ex-husband and now has seven grandchildren and grandchildren.
