Xinhua News Agency, Kigali, September 18 (Reporter Gilly) On the 18th, the 25th batch of Chinese medical teams to aid Rwanda donated a batch of medical equipment to the Basic Ge Hospital in Oriental Province, Rwanda.

At the donation ceremony, the Chinese medical team donated equipment such as an electrical surgical table, shadowless surgical lights, gynaecological examination beds to the Luhansk side.

In his speech, China's ambassador to Rwanda, Gao Wen Cheng, said that China's medical cooperation has been extensive and fruitful for decades.China has supported the construction of Basic Go Hospital and Masaka Hospital to provide medical services to more than 500,000 local residents.China is willing to work with Luhan to actively implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state during the Beijing Summit of the China-Africa Cooperation Forum, and promote new results in medical and health cooperation between the two sides.

Nyonagila Natali, Regional Director of the Engoma Region of the Eastern Province of Rwanda, expressed her heartfelt gratitude for the Chinese donation. She said that China has long been providing precious support to Rwanda in the fields of infrastructure, education, medical care and other fields, significantly improving the livelihood of the local people. Basic Go Hospital has long been supported by China in terms of human resources, technology and equipment, and has completed its expansion in cooperation with China in 1992, and is currently steadily moving towards the goal of building a complete teaching hospital.

Wang Yongxiang, captain of China's medical aid team in Lu, said that the donated materials are mainly used in operating rooms and obstetrics and gynecology, which will help to improve the hospital's surgical ability and improve patients' medical conditions. According to reports, in the past nine months, the 25th batch of medical teams has completed 702 operations, received more than 10,000 patients, organized 5 free clinics and health education activities, and carried out 12 academic and cultural exchanges.

Since 1982, China has sent 25 batches, a total of 324 medical personnel to Rwanda to carry out medical assistance, respectively in Masaka Hospital and Basic Go Hospital to carry out daily clinical treatment, cumulatively receiving more than 720,000 people, performing more than 40,000 surgeries, saving the lives of more than 16,000 critical patients.
