After the fire in 2019,The restored two clock towers in the north and south of Notre Dame will be opened to visitors for the first time on September 20¡£

During this weekend, September 20 and 21, European Heritage Days, tourists can climb 424 stairs, climb the 69-meter-high bell tower terrace, overlook the panoramic view of Paris, and visit the famous "Emanuel" clock nearby. To celebrate the reopening, French President Macron will climb the summit on September 19.

In an interview with the media, Philip Joster, head of the public restoration agency of the Notre-Dame of Paris, said that the visiting route of the bell tower was redesigned during the restoration. Visitors can enter the core of the South Tower to see the whole view of the bell tower, which is not seen in any other cathedral. A new solid wooden double spiral staircase has been added to the restoration so that visitors up and down do not interfere with each other. The wooden structure of the bell tower (i.e. the bell tower shelf), which has never been opened to the outside, is also displayed to the public for the first time.

According to relevant data, the repair of the two bell towers is part of the second phase of the Notre Dame renovation project in Paris, costing approximately €5.2 billion. Since the 2019 fire, approximately 2,000 craftsmen have been involved in the repair, including the rebuilding of the roof, the restoration of the corner tower and the repair of the pipeline. The Notre Dame of Paris was officially reopened in December 2024 and will continue to repair parts of the back of the palace.
