Qatar's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs wrote in the US media: Israel's bombing of mediators is "an attack on diplomacy itself"

[Global Network Report] According to a report by the Times of Israel on the 19th, Qatar's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Khulaifi published a signed article in the Washington Post, condemning Israel's attack on the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) negotiating delegation in Doha on the 9th of this month as an "attack on diplomacy itself."

In the article, Khulefi said, “In the modern diplomatic history, there has never been a case in which a negotiating party attacked the mediating country,” Israel’s attack not only violated the basic norms of international law, but also destroyed the mediation behavior itself.

The article continued that the Israeli government's reasons for the attack in Doha were "distorted facts and a shift of perspective", "for example, the United States did not target the Taliban's Doha office during the negotiations between Qatar and the Taliban as a mediator."

Khulefi also said that over the years, Qatar has mediated to prevent the escalation of the Israeli conflict and facilitated several hostage-exchange agreements in the current round of the conflict, “Netanjahu’s criticism of Qatar’s reception of Hamas officials is an insult to the international community, the media and even the intelligence of the Israeli public.”

"If all mediators can be bombed wantonly, who else will want to host peace talks? Once there is a lack of safe diplomatic channels, war will become the only option, civilization will regress, and the rule of law will be replaced by naked force." The article concludes with a warning.

Hamas said the Hamas negotiating delegation was discussing a latest ceasefire proposal by the United States. Following the Israeli airstrike, Netanyahu said at a meeting in the U.S. Embassy on 9th that Israel's "surgical precision strike" against Hamas leadership could pave the way for an immediate end to the war in Gaza. Multi-national and international organizations have spoken out on 9th to condemn Israel's "precise strike" on senior Hamas members, saying that Israel's move is "unacceptable", not only violates international law, violates Karta sovereignty, but also further endangers the regional situation.
