The theft of Pharaoh's gold bracelet from the Egyptian Museum was solved: it had been melted down and was stolen by restoration experts

The Egyptian Interior Ministry said earlier this month that a 3,000-year-old gold bracelet from the Egyptian Museum had been stolen and it has now been confirmed to have melted.

According to previous reports, the Ministry of Tourism and Heritage of Egypt announced on September 16 that the precious heritage was being repaired in the restoration laboratory of the Egyptian Museum before it was lost, and will be transported to the Palace of Quirinale in Rome, Italy to participate in the “Treasure of the Pharaoh” exhibition, which opened on October 24. It is that the bracelet belonged to the twentieth dynasty of Egypt, Pharaoh Amnonep, and has been more than 3,000 years old (previous reports: the 3000-year-old Pharaoh’s bracelet disappeared, the laboratory for restoration of heritage was controlled, and the Egyptian customs had been investigated).

The Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Heritage said it had officially delayed the announcement of the disappearance of the relics, which actually disappeared from the safe in the repair laboratory on September 9.

After the cultural relics were lost, the Egyptian government immediately set up a special expert committee to examine other cultural relics in the restoration laboratory, and distributed photos of bracelets to all airports, seaports and land border crossings in Egypt to prevent smuggling abroad.

Currently, the Egyptian Ministry of Internal Affairs has announced that it has tracked the perpetrator of the theft, allegedly a museum repair expert, who took the relic and sold it to a silver and silver merchant, who then handed it over to a workshop owner in Cairo's historic jewelry district.

The Egyptian interior ministry said the suspect had been arrested and seized sales revenue worth approximately £194,000 (approximately $28653).

At the time of the event, just weeks from the opening ceremony of the Great Egyptian Museum near the pyramids of Giza, the museum's rich collection, showcasing Egypt's ancient cultural heritage, is a major highlight of attracting tourists, and tourism is one of Egypt's important foreign exchange sources.
