About two months later, Thailand and Cambodia once again clashed on the sovereign disputed border, and the two sides accused each other of military civilians crossing the border and violating the ceasefire agreement.

According to the United Morning Post on September 18, this is the most serious escalation of the conflict between the two sides since Thailand reached a ceasefire agreement in late July, and since the ceasefire, the two sides have repeatedly accused each other of violating the ceasefire.

The Cambodian Ministry of Defense issued a statement on the evening of 17 local time that about 300 Thai military police carried weapons and anti-violence equipment illegally across the border that afternoon in an attempt to set up a network of iron wire in the border area of Benghazi province (Taiwan is known as Shandong Province).

The Thai Army and Foreign Ministry said about 200 Cambodians gathered at the border to protest and dismantle Thai security facilities across the border. The Thai police fired rubber and tear guns to prevent the escalation of the situation, resulting in Cambodian people throwing wooden sticks, stones and bow shots, injuring about four police officers.

Cambodia’s Prime Minister, Mr. Hunan, has sent a letter to Malaysia’s rotating ASEAN Presidency Prime Minister, Mr. Anvar, and several leaders, calling on Thailand to stop “unilateral actions that could escalate tensions and escalate the conflict.”

Thailand's anti-violence police said on Tuesday that Thailand had prepared 10 water artillery vehicles to respond to Cambodia's ongoing protests, while Thailand's new prime minister, Anutin, said the area was in a state of vigilance and all decision-making rights belonged to the military, and the new government would still listen to border officials after it took office.

Addressing the call of the Cambodian leaders to the international community, Anutin said that national well-being, sovereignty and civil security have always been Thailand’s top priority and will never change this principle.

He said he had spoken to Aung San Suu Kyi and invited the other party to visit Malaysia after the official performance of his duties to further strengthen the friendly relations between the two countries.

The Malaysian New Strait Times on Tuesday that Anwar urged all sides to remain calm and restrained in recent developments on the Tamil border and stressed that any tensions must be resolved through diplomatic and constructive dialogue.

Anvar also wrote on Facebook on the 18th: “We discussed the current developments on the Tajik border.I emphasized the importance of keeping calm and ensuring that any differences do not evolve into unnecessary tensions.”

The conflict continued to escalate in several locations until the morning of the 25th. The two sides accused each other of first firing, violating international law, and recalling their ambassadors, and reducing diplomatic relations. According to central TV news reports, Cambodian Prime Minister Hong Manne and then Thai Prime Minister Putan held a special meeting in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on July 28, to discuss the situation at the borders of the two countries. At the joint conference after the meeting, the two sides agreed to a ceasefire.
