Tsunami warning issued on east coast of Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula

On September 19, Russia's Chancagaran border district chief executive Solodov said on the "Russia 24" television channel that an earthquake of magnitude 7.4 occurred in the early morning in the waters near the Canadian peninsula, and the eastern coast of the peninsula issued a tsunami warning.

Solodov said that this is one of the strongest aftershocks since the 8.8-magnitude earthquake struck the waters near Kamchatka Peninsula at the end of July. There were obvious earthquakes in Petropavlovsk, Kamchatsky and Vilyuchinsk. The earthquake caused cracks in some walls. Many citizens ran outdoors to take refuge, and some citizens went to temporary resettlement sites for help. Up to now, no reports of casualties and major property losses have been received.

According to the news previously released by the Kamchatka branch of the "Unified Geophysical Bureau" of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the earthquake occurred at 6: 58 local time on the 19th (2: 58 Beijing time on the 19th). The epicenter was located 93 kilometers east of Petropavlovsk, Kamchatsky, with a focal depth of 123 kilometers.
