On September 18th, local time, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Russia had filed a complaint with the International Court of Justice about the so-called Russian participation in the ICAO resolution on Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17.
The Russian Foreign Ministry stressed that the ICAO resolution was made on the basis of Dutch-led technical and criminal investigations, the results of which were highly suspicious, and based mainly on fake “facts” provided by Ukraine.
In May this year, the Netherlands said it had the support of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Council. Australia also filed a lawsuit in 2022 accusing Russia of violating the International Civil Aviation Convention and demanding that Russia stop using weapons to jeopardize civil aviation. The Netherlands and Australia also demanded compensation from the Russian side for the losses caused.
In July 2014, Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 from the Netherlands to Malaysia crashed in eastern Ukraine, killing a total of 298 people.
