U.S. aircraft carrier Nimitz was tracked as it was approaching Iran

According to U.S. Newsweek’s latest report, two U.S. naval reconnaissance jets and two helicopters associated with the Nimitz aircraft carrier were tracked over the Strait of Hormuz on 18th, indicating that the aircraft carrier is approaching Iran.

According to reports, the aircraft carrier "Nimitz" was transferred to the Middle East in June, triggering a 12-day conflict against the background of escalating tensions in Iran. Israel and the United States launched air strikes on Iran's nuclear facilities, while Iran fired missiles at a major base of Israel and the United States in Qatar.

Recently, the U.S. Naval Research Institute News Network reported on September 15th that "the Nimitz aircraft carrier strike group is performing routine missions in the Persian Gulf. The U.S. Navy said that the aircraft carrier is currently moored near the United Arab Emirates." In addition, U.S. and Kuwaiti officials held talks on the Nimitz aircraft carrier in early September. The U.S. Navy Central Command said in a statement on September 17th that "the two sides discussed the continued commitment of the two countries to ensure maritime security in the northern waters of the Arabian Gulf."

On the other hand, Iran’s senior officer, Ahmed Jassa Paldastan, recently told local media, “I can guarantee that if the enemy attempts to take action, it will encounter a devastating response that makes it repent.”

Newsweek has contacted U.S. Central Command for comment.
