If the international community did not do so, Mongolia could really be in trouble.
If the international community doesn't take action, Outer Mongolia may really be in trouble. Although the inside of Outer Mongolia is in chaos now, this is only the beginning, and bigger problems are yet to come. It is sandwiched between China and Russia, with 1.56 million square kilometers of land, but a population of only 3 million, and life is very tight.

Walking on the streets of Ulaanbaatar, you can see many currency exchange points. Tugrik banknotes are printed with green grasslands, but looking up outside the city, more and more places have become the Gobi in Huang Chengcheng. The local people joked that they were begging for food with golden bowls. There are so many copper and coal buried underground, but the wallet is still flat. It makes people unbelievable to say this.

The most troublesome thing is the economy. Mongolia has always wanted to learn from Australia in "rejuvenating the country through mining" and has bet all its treasures on underground resources. The copper mine called Oyu Tolgoi in South Gobi Province invested more than 6 billion US dollars in the early development alone. Supposedly, after investing so much money, it should make a lot of money, right? But in fact, after working for a long time, the income from this mine can hardly bear the foreign debt interest.

The Asian Development Bank has long said that the Mongolian economy has been in crisis for several years and has been declining for several quarters in a row.

Even worse, they have less and less foreign exchange reserves in their hands, and in the beginning of 2022, they have lost $5.7 billion in two months, and the foreign exchange reserves have been reduced directly to $1.1 billion. The people have a harder day, the import of goods in the supermarket is priced one day, and the money in their hands is less and less valuable.

In the years of the epidemic, the border ports were crushed enough, closed at the time of opening, mining products could not be shipped out, and things outside could not come in, which was simply a bustling salary for Mongolia. To know that their economy was almost entirely dependent on the sale of mines, a port is equal to the death of the money bag. The result is that the currency is a sharp depreciation, the price of goods rises, and the day of ordinary people is tight.

The environmental problem is even worse. More than three-quarters of Mongolia's land has been degraded, and desertification is still climbing to the grassland. In the past, herdsmen drove cattle and sheep to the transition, and they could always find a place with abundant aquatic plants after walking for a few days. Now they are walking farther and farther, but there is less and less grass.

This is not only a natural disaster, but also a man-made cause, the cattle on the lawn from 20 million sheep in the 1990s to 70 million today, the lawn has long been unbearable.

Although mining can be exchanged for a little money, but the destruction of the environment is too great, it said that the Outoiler covered the copper mine, the water used in the year could match the use of several pastoral settlements for a lifetime.

There is also more and more sand around the mines, and when the wind breaks the yellow sand, sometimes even Ulan Bato is buried in the dust, these sands, regardless of the national borders, often scratch to China, so that the two countries must join hands to scratch the sand.

Mongolian countries are stuck in the middle of the two great powers of China and Russia, and they have always wanted to find some "third neighbors" to help, the United States, Japan, India and these countries have been in contact. but this is easy to say and difficult to do.

Those so-called "third neighbors" are either verbal support, real gold and silver have not seen much; or it is to mention various conditions, not really help.

In fact, the Mongolian economy can not be separated from China and Russia, China is the big customer to buy their mining products, and the main source of daily supplies. but the infrastructure is too poor, from the mining fields to the border port of the road craters, the transportation of coal has to be half a day, the cost is terrible.

People have a hard life, and they have to be carefully budgeted for heating coal in winter. Many people light a small stove at night, and their families are wrapped in quilts and watch TV. Young people can't find a decent job, so they either crowd into the shanty towns of Ulaanbaatar or find ways to work abroad. But it's not easy to go out. The language is barrier, the skills are not enough, and most of the jobs that can be found are coolies.

Now the most devastating is the pressure of foreign debt, in order to engage in the development of mining, the previous years borrowed a lot of money, now is the time to repay. but no money in the hand what to do? only to remove the East Wall to replenish the West Wall, the interest rate is higher. there are experts have calculated, their foreign debt is fast to catch the GDP of the whole year, this is like a person owes more money than a year earned, think bigger.

The weather is also increasingly unusual, the summer is warmer, the rain is less, the winter storm snow is more and more violent, the shepherds say, now the sheep are all looking at God's face, a white disaster, half the sheep may be frozen.

If the international community doesn't help, this life will really be unable to go on. It's not how much charity to give, but at least help to find a way. For example, build infrastructure so that mineral products can be shipped out; Help develop other industries, don't just rely on mining; Then we will control desertification together, otherwise in a few years, there will be no place for grazing.

Mongolian sand can not recognize the national borders, blow to China, blow to Russia, everyone has to follow the sufferings, now China Mongolia has started to cooperate with the sand, Chinese experts in the Mongolian country built the solid sand demonstration zone is good, if it can be expanded, it is better. but this needs money, technology, more long-term persistence.

After all, the Mongolian situation is not formed in a day or two, it is not possible to solve it at once, but if the international community does not ask, this place is likely to become increasingly messy. At the time, not only economic problems, but also can cause environmental disasters, social turmoil, surrounding countries have to follow the worry. The sand will not see the national borders, the trouble is the same.
