Qatar officials visit International Criminal Court to seek legal response to Israeli attack in Doha

Qatar's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Khulaifi visited the International Criminal Court in the Netherlands on September 17, local time, to discuss a legal response to Israel's attack on Doha in accordance with international law.

On the same day, Hulaifi held talks with the President of the International Criminal Court, Judge Tomoko Agen and Deputy Prosecutor Nazat respectively, focusing on the recent Israeli attack on Doha. Hulaifi reiterated that Israel's move blatantly violated Qatar's sovereignty, and its crimes must be punished by international criminal law. Qatar is unswervingly determined to defend its rights through all legal channels.

Israel announced a "precise strike" on Monday against the leadership of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in Doha, Qatar's capital, Hamas said the Hamas negotiating delegation was discussing a latest U.S. proposed ceasefire when the airstrikes occurred. Five Palestinians and one Qatari security personnel were killed in the attack. Qatar's Justice Ministry issued a statement on Thursday saying that Qatar decided to set up a legal team to take legal action against Israel and that the team would be headed by Qatari Foreign Minister Hulefi.
