Iran's Foreign Minister Al-Araqi held a telephone conversation on the evening of 17 September with the British, French, German foreign ministers and the EU's senior representative for foreign and security policy Karas, calling on the European side to continue through diplomatic routes, seeking a "fair and balanced" solution to the Iranian nuclear issue. According to a statement issued by the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Al-Araqi reiterated Iran’s commitment to seeking a solution through diplomatic routes and criticized the European side’s approach to triggering the “rapid reinstatement of sanctions” mechanism “without a legal and logical basis.” Aragzzi mentioned Iran's recent cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency on the reinstatement of verification, saying it was now the turn of the European side to seize the opportunity and continue on the diplomatic path "to prevent a crisis that could be avoided". he stressed that Iran is ready to work to a "fair and balanced" solution that can safeguard the interests of all parties. The three foreign ministers issued a joint statement on Iran's nuclear issue on August 28 that the three countries notified the UN Security Council on the same day to launch the "rapid resumption of sanctions" mechanism, if the Security Council fails to pass a resolution on extending the period of exemption from sanctions against Iraq within 30 days, the relevant sanctions will be resumed.
