Today, we pay attention to the third newsletter: Japan's emerging political party "Rebirth Road Party" announced that it will appoint AI as its party leader.
A newly formed Japanese political party, the Renewal Road Party, recently announced that the party will be headed by artificial intelligence after its founder resigns, a move that has attracted attention both at home and abroad and is seen as an unconventional attempt on the political party system and the way it participates in politics.
Founded in January 2025, the “Renewal Road Party” was once the mayor of a small western city in Japan, where he received some attention and support from social media during the Tokyo Governor’s election, surprisingly reaching second place after the successful re-election of the small pool, which increased his exposure.
Despite gaining some fame in the governor's election, its "Renewal Way Party" has not been defeated in subsequent elections, in particular, all of the party's candidates were defeated in the upper house elections this year, and all of the party's candidates were defeated in the parliamentary elections in Tokyo.
As a result of the election’s failure, Mr. Ki-moon announced his resignation as party leader. After Mr. Ki-moon left, the process of replacing leaders was carried out within the political party, and the new nominal leader was an AI research doctoral student at Kyoto University, named Ohmurakoon Tree. Only Ohmurakoon Tree seemed to have no interest in being a party leader, positioning himself as a “new leader assistant.” He announced at a news conference: “The new leader will be AI.” But he also noted that the final decision on when and how this AI will be implemented, and the specific function and power boundaries of AI, is not yet made.
In fact, the “Renewal Road Party” has absolutely no unified political program since the beginning of the party’s founding. The foundation of the party was based on the belief that “the country’s future is not good and something needs to be done”. But what exactly to do? it put forward a vision such as “reactivating local self-government”, “upgrading citizens’ participation in politics”, “allowing grassroots communities to rejuvenate”, and on election issues and directions, not forcing unity within the party, members can often decide their own position.
In general, the "Renewal Way Party" is now more like a system and political organization formal experiment, its current only highlight is through "non-traditional / modern political communication", to make politics more open and more people to participate, and to make AI the party leader, in fact, is also a bit of the Internet to gain attention.
