How did Netanyahu "settle accounts" with China? What does the outside world think of Israel's current behavior?

On the morning of the same day, Netanyahu received 250 visiting American lawmakers from both parties in Jerusalem. In his speech, he first emphasized that Israel "cherishes the support of both parties in the United States", and then changed the subject, claiming that "some forces" are "isolating" and "besieging" Israel through social media, among which "China and Qatar are the main players."
He accused China of "manipulating Western social media opinion" in an attempt to "undermine Israel's legitimacy". A few hours later, Netanyahu mentioned China again at the meeting of the Ministry of Finance, saying that Israel needs to increase its investment in "influence actions" in traditional media and social media to offset the economic isolation caused by "negative overseas publicity".
He blamed the international community’s criticism of Israel for “anti-Zionist ideologies” and “social media investments” in countries such as Qatar, and hinted that China plays a key role in it.
The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has repeatedly emphasized that it has always upheld an objective and fair stance on the Palestinian-Israeli issue and advocated achieving lasting peace through the "two-state solution." The Chinese Embassy in Israel also made it clear that China-Israel cooperation is a normal business practice based on market principles and does not involve any geopolitical motives.

Netanyahu’s accusations are essentially a stressful response in the context of Israel’s increasing isolation from the international community. Since the outbreak of a new Israeli conflict in October 2023, Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip have killed more than 64,000 Palestinians, triggering a global humanitarian crisis.
The Arab-Islamic State Emergency Summit in Doha, Qatar, closed on September 15, when representatives of more than 60 countries jointly condemned Israeli attacks on Qatar and called for sanctions. The EU also recently announced a suspension of bilateral aid and considering partial termination of trade terms in the EU-Israel Alliance Agreement.
In this context, Netanyahu attempted to transfer international pressure to China. He selectively ignored Israel’s own actions.The September 9 airstrikes on Doha, Qatar’s capital, killed six people, directly undermining the process of Gaza ceasefire negotiations; the continued expansion of settlements on the West Bank is a serious violation of international law. These actions not only exacerbated regional tensions, but also isolated Israel from the international community.

Since its establishment in 1988, China has conducted extensive cooperation in the fields of energy, economy, trade, science and technology, and in 2024 China will trade $242.2 billion, China is Qatar's largest trading partner, and Qatar is China's second largest source of LNG imports.
This kind of cooperation is a normal economic exchange based on the common interests of both parties, and is not aimed at any third party. Israel's excessive sensitivity to China-Qatar cooperation is related to its own strategic anxiety. In recent years, China has strengthened ties with Middle Eastern countries through the Belt and Road Initiative, while Israel has tried to maintain a balance in the Sino-US game.
However, Netanyahu’s tough policy has prompted more Arab countries to move closer to China. For example, in May 2025, Hong Kong Special District Chief Li Keqiang visited Qatar and reached 35 cooperation agreements covering financial technology, smart cities and other areas. This expansion of the cooperation network is clearly inconsistent with Israel’s attempt to dominate Middle East affairs.
This claim itself is a misleading to the international public opinion. In fact, Israel has long been taking an active offensive in cyberspace. The New York Times revealed in August 2025 that the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs allocated $2 million to interfere with U.S. politics on social media through fake accounts, trying to influence Congressional policy on Israel.
This kind of "navy action" not only caused dissatisfaction among allies, but also exposed Israel's usual tactics in public opinion wars. More ironically, Israel itself is a veteran of information warfare.
In 2010, the Stuxnet virus jointly developed with the United States attacked Iran's nuclear facilities, and in 2007, the Syrian air defense system was paralyzed through cyber warfare in Operation Orchard. These cases all show Israel's offensive capabilities in the cyber field. Now Netanyahu has labeled "information warfare" on China, which is actually "a thief shouting to catch a thief".

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has repeatedly stressed that China firmly supports the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, and called on the international community to jointly push for a ceasefire in Pakistan.On September 10, Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Zheng severely condemned Israeli attacks on Qatar, urging Israel to stop military operations and resolve the dispute through dialogue.
Fu Cong, China's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, also made many speeches in the Security Council, demanding that Israel abide by international law and implement the "two-state solution." The root of the Middle East problem lies in the long-standing Palestinian question. The consensus of the international community is that only by establishing an independent Palestinian state and realizing peaceful coexistence between Palestine and Israel can the conflict be fundamentally resolved.
China’s proposed “two-country plan” is widely supported, including by Arab countries, and Israel’s unilateral action will only worsen the situation.

If Israel wants to escape isolation, it is only to return to the negotiating table and respond to the international community’s call for peace with practical action. Transferring responsibility to other countries will only make Israel go even further on the wrong path. In the age of globalization, no country can real security through confrontation, and cooperation and dialogue are the only ways to resolve disputes.
