Princess Kate, 43, wore mourning clothes to the Duchess's funeral, curtsey to Charles was warm, Camilla was absent

On September 16, local time, most members of the British royal family appeared in the Westminster Cathedral to attend the funeral of Duchess Catherine of Kent.

It wasly the first time since the Reformation that a monarch attended an official Catholic Mass on British territory, and also marked another milestone, the first time in 400 years that members of the British royal family attended a Catholic funeral.

The 89-year-old Duke of Kent, Edward, is one of King George V's grandchildren, and the late Queen Elizabeth is a cousin.

The Duke’s real name was Catherine Wesley, who died on 4th of this month at the age of 92. Catherine converted to Catholicism in 1994 and one of her wishes during her lifetime was to have a Catholic funeral. The last member of the British royal family who converted to Catholicism was King Charles II, who converted before his death in 1685.

When the spirits of the Duchess of Kent were taken out of the church and prepared to be sent to the funeral at the Royal Frogmore Cemetery in Windsor, her married husband expressed sadness that the old couple had married in 1961, stayed together and had three children together.

The Royal Cemetery of Frogmore is the sleeping place of most members of the royal family.

As a relative, Charles III also attended the funeral with his son William and daughter-in-law Kate, but was absent as queen Camilla on the grounds that an acute rhinitis attack needed rest.

It is said that Camilla, 77, regretted not being able to attend the funeral of the Duchess of Kent, but she hoped that she could recover as soon as possible. After all, there were important foreign affairs activities waiting for her.

US President Donald Trump and First Lady melania Trump arrived in London on the evening of 16th, preparing for a three-day state visit to Britain, when Charles will host a state banquet for them.

At the end of the funeral, the 76-year-old Charles first left the church, before he was preparing to get into the car, Princess Kate, his daughter-in-law, made a postcard to say goodbye to him, and then sent a kneeling.

According to reports, from the video footage of the scene can be seen, Kate said a "Bye Papa" when saying goodbye to Charles, showing a rather warm feeling, also showing intimacy between family members.

Both Kate and Charles were cancer patients, but the 43-year-old princess announced a year ago that she was basically recovered, but the king didn't. It is said that he still needs treatment. Nevertheless, the monarch, who ascended the throne at the age of seventy, did not stop there, but continued to work actively, making many public appearances than Kate did.

Kate appeared outside the church on the same day in a pure black dress, with a thin jacket inside the swallowed jacket, also a medium-sized dress, but also due to the inclusion of the veil more and more charm.

Like Camilla, Kate is next to be busy welcoming the Trump couple, and she is gradually returning to royal jobs after going through a cancer-fighting journey.
