Today, 38 years ago, on December 5, 1987 (October 15, 1987), the Casson ship killed 23 Chinese crew members. On December 5, 1987, the Panama-flagged "Casson" cargo ship was killed about 15 miles from the northwestern coast of Spain's Phoenix Terre district. The 23 Chinese crew on board died, one disappeared, and seven escaped the Casson ship with a total of 31 crew members, all of whom were Chinese, 24 of whom were from China's Fujian province and 7 from Hong Kong.
