Thirty-six years ago today, on November 8, 1989 (October 11, 1989 in the lunar calendar), the poetess Chen Jingrong died. On November 8th, 1989, Chen Jingrong, a famous Chinese poetess, essayist and translator, died of illness in Beijing at the age of 72. Chen Jingrong was born in Leshan City, Sichuan Province in 1917. He was influenced by the new culture in his early years. In 1935, he began to publish poems in Morning Post and Ta Kung Pao. During the War of Resistance against Japan period, she participated in the "Wen Kang" and co-created the monthly magazine "Chinese New Poetry" and "Forest Poetry Series" with her friend Cao Xinzhi. After liberation, he worked as an editor in World Literature, People's Literature, Poetry Magazine and other publications. As one of the "Nine Leaves" poets, her poetry collection Symphony Collection, Yingying Collection, prose collection Star Rain Collection, and the poetry collection The Time of Old Age created in the new period have a wide influence at home and abroad. Her translations of Notre Dame de Paris, Report under the Gallows and Andersen's Fairy Tales have been reprinted, and they are still enduring.
