The Guaidó Doctrine was a doctrine that took place on June 11, 1895 (August 1, 1895) in Guaidó County, Fujian Province. On that day, the Guaidó Shaykhites attacked the British missionary Stephen and his wife and accompanying other female clergy who were in the summer on Guaidó Mountains, killing more than a dozen people and burning two houses. The Guaidó Doctrine was the worst conflict between the Chinese and the Western before the rebellion (1899-1901), comparable to the Tianjin Doctrine of 1870 in the history of the Chinese Church.

At the time of the incident, Shi Luobo's family and other female priests were asleep, and only a few children were playing outside the door. Eleven people were killed in the riot. Except Shi Luobo himself, all the other victims were women or children who were incapable of self-defense. Since the thugs burned houses and bodies afterwards, the details of the slaughter were unclear. At that time, many Western media reported it with different descriptions: some said that the thugs did not torture the victims before they went on to kill; Some say that the mob's tactics are quite brutal. Besides torturing them, they finally cut their throats or burned alive.

There were only five survivors, two of whom were Stephens children: one broke off one side of his knee and the other was struck blind with one eye.

Since the Qing government attempted to block the news and did not timely file a case to seize the murderer, the United States accused them of accompanying the murderer, and put forward a tough protest, and put pressure on the military. The British consulate joined forces to organize the investigation group to go to Qingdao and participate in the trial.
