On September 17, local time, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kallas announced a series of sanctions against Israel.
The day before, on September 16, Kallas said that Israel’s ground attack on Gaza would worsen the already severe situation. The European Commission will propose measures on September 17 to pressure the Israeli government to change its stance on the war in Gaza. Kallas also said that measures would include suspending trade preferences, imposing sanctions on extremist ministers and violent settlers, and clearly indicating the EU’s demand to end the war.
