The Polish National Protection Agency destroyed a drone flying over the government building and the presidential palace in Warsaw on the evening of the 15th, the Polish authorities clarified on the 16th that the two suspects detained for alleged handling the drone were in fact a Belarusian citizen and a Ukrainian citizen.

The day before local time (15 June), Polish Prime Minister Tusk said on social media that "two Belarusian citizens" were detained in the incident.

On September 16 local time, Polish Interior Ministry spokesman Jacek Dobunsky clarified at a press conference that the suspects were “a young Belarusian woman” and “a 20-year-old Ukrainian man” respectively. Police added that the two were 21 year-old Ukrainian men and 17 year-old Belarusian women respectively. Investigators were searching the residence of the two and verifying their identity and judging whether they were legally residing in Poland.

During a press conference, Dombunsky stressed that “we deny the rumors of a mass espionage operation” and said it was too early for more details to be confirmed by officials, adding that “these people were young people, because of negligence, because of ignorance, because they wanted to make a video.”
