Chinese-Russian marriages are on the rise, if you do not understand the physiological defects of Russian women, marriage can be painful.

More than twenty years ago, in the marketplace on the shore of the Hunan River, there was often a bustling scene: Russian merchants wearing heavy leather clothes pushed a truck filled with chocolate, vodka, honey, and even small household appliances, while Chinese merchants exchanged with large bags of flour, vegetables and textiles.

It was the early years of Chinese-Russian border trade, and ordinary people were first exposed face-to-face to the everyday way of life of neighbors.

For many Chinese, these blond-eyed strangers seem to have some exotic colour, and thus open up their curiosity about the outside world.

With the rapid development of China’s economy and increasing openness to the outside world, this curiosity was no longer limited to commodities, but gradually extended to cultural, ideological, and even marital relationships.

By the end of the last century, the first Chinese-Russian transnational marriages appeared in the Black River and Manchuria.

A local edition of the People's Daily in 1997 that: In Black River alone, a hundred Chinese husbands registered marriages with Russian wives, a number that has doubled in the following years.

However, this transnational relationship was not generally understood at first.

At the time, many Chinese families were concerned about the conflict brought about by cultural differences, but with the deepening of the exchanges, people gradually discovered that through the most direct bond of marriage, the feelings of ordinary people in the two countries can instead be stronger than the official treaty.

Transnational marriage is not just romantic exotic, it has reality behind it.

Many Chinese men gradually realize that Russian women differ significantly from Chinese women in their physical and lifestyle. This also means that their dietary needs are often completely different from those of Southern Chinese men.

The Difference

Russia’s natural environment is destined to make a profound imprint on the bodies and habits of local women.

Russia is vast, but most of the country is in a high latitude temperate continental climate, winters are long and dry, often up to six and seven months, and temperatures are low to zero and thirty and forty degrees.

In the cold season, Russian women often rely on vodka or guava to speed up blood circulation.

A study by the Russian Academy of Sciences showed that women who drink small amounts of spirits in cold conditions can significantly increase epitelial blood flow and relieve the feeling of cold in a short time.

In comparison, most parts of China have a mild winter climate, and people are more accustomed to relying on hot tea and hot pot, which constitutes a significant difference between the two cultures and the body.

In physiological characteristics, Russian women belong to the European race, with a significantly higher number of sweat glands than the East Asian race.

According to data from the Russian National Medical University, Europeans have an average of 15% to 20% more sweat glands per square centimeter of their skin than Asians.

Chinese men often notice this difference after living with Russian wives.

Russian women metabolize faster. They long relied on the structure of high protein and high fat in their diets: Rice, cream, smoked meat, red wine soup with black bread is almost commonly combined.

As early as the 19th century, the Russian government ordered that soldiers and their families should be fed a certain amount of animal fat and dairy products daily to ensure they could resist the cold.

The Chinese diet is more focused on the balance of helium and the intake of dietary fiber. The collision of two cultures at the table often causes transnational couples to struggle.

Due to the continuous high-calorie diets, plus different living conditions, Russian women still retain their original habits after coming to China, and tend to be more prone to weight gain.

Medical statistics show, The average body fat rate of Russian women is about 3% to 5% higher than that of Chinese women of their same age.Their metabolism is fast, but excessive energy intake often leads to noticeable changes in body shape.

The speed of aging is also a reality that must be faced.

Russian women's skin is white and delicate, but ultraviolet rays do more damage to light skin, plus the difference in diet and diet, skin aging faster than Asian women.

A 2017 paper in the Moscow Journal of Medicine found that Eastern European women began to develop marked wrinkles on average around the age of 35, while East Asian women tend to be delayed to the age of 40 or later.

Therefore, if Chinese men want to marry Russian women, they must be prepared mentally and in life in advance: accept their eating habits, understand their physical differences, and include their aging rate.

Challenges and opportunities

Language differences are often a hard-to-pass gap in transnational marriages.

For adults, language systems have long been shaped, and it is very challenging to master a completely unfamiliar language in a short time. Adult learners take an average of three to five years to reach the level of daily communication in a second language.

For transnational couples, this learning process is accompanied by a lot of confusion and friction. Language is not only a tool of communication, but more about emotional transmission.

However, feelings often find out beyond language, non-linguistic expression, and also become an important bond to maintain transnational marriage.

In addition to the language challenge, Chinese men also face the direct impact on the character of Russian women's "fighting nations." Russian women grew up in a cold and harsh environment, with a fearless and straightforward character in the nationality.

They often do not turn the corner when they encounter problems, and are accustomed to responding positively.

Some Chinese husbands who married Russian wives have claimed that their wives acted stronger than themselves in family quarrels and even felt “eaten to death.”

But this direct rate is not a disadvantage, and many researchers believe that Russian women's "explosion" is a mechanism of self-protection.In Russian society, the proportion of men and women is long-term imbalanced, and men generally live shorter than women, and they must learn to be independent and strong.

In contrast, Chinese men's gentleness and humility, instead, complement this luxury. The collision of the two characters can sometimes produce contradictions, but can also inspire new balance points.

Because of the smaller population of Russia, many Russian women want to return home after marriage. For Chinese men, this means becoming “the son-in-law.”

In fact, Chinese-Russian cross-border families are often more likely to engage in cross-border trade in their careers than ordinary families.

Take Manchuria as an example, many local multinational couples use the background of both families, operate import and export business, from wood to honey, from machinery to cosmetics, the business is growing.

Chinese weddings are often less than a gift, which is a kind of respect and financial support for the female family.

Russia has no gift tradition, and marriage in Russia focuses more on the independent choice of the two, rather than the demonstration of the family's financial strength. For many Chinese men, this is a real “benefit.”

For some people, marrying a Russian girl means not only a partner, but also another piece of land that can settle.

If you marry a Russian daughter-in-law, it is equivalent to more of a "second home". in this "second home" may be able to open up a new career and life direction.
