On 21 January 2006 (Calendar 22 December 2005), Ibrahim Rugova, President of Kosovo, aged 61. Ibrahim Rugova (2 December 1944 ¨C 21 January 2006) was the 1st President of Kosovo, and the leader of Kosovo¡¯s main political party the Democratic Union of Kosovo (LDK) led Kosovo¡¯s Albanians since 1989 in a non-violent protest against the deprivation of autonomy, so Rugova was regarded as a pacifist, and in December Rugova established the Democratic Union of Kosovo. After a long struggle with Serbia, Rugova bombed South Slavia in 1999 and was later governed by the United Nations. Rugova was also honored by Kosovo¡¯s Albanians as the ¡°father of the country¡±. In 2002 the Autonomous Assembly directly elected, the Democratic Union of Serbia became the largest party. In February 2002, after the election of the
