On January 13, 1908, French pilot Henry Fleming made the first flight with a Vasane propelled two-wing aircraft, with a total of at least 1 km, receiving a bonus of $10,000. Fleming drove a 300-pound aircraft loaded with a 50 horsepower engine. It took off 5 miles south-east of Paris. The aircraft easily reached the flight requirement, 24 miles per hour at a height of 25 to 30 feet, with a total flight of more than 1 km. This flight illustrates that the Vasane propelled two-wing aircraft will replace the convenient air balloon flight in the air.
