On December 15, 1965, two U.S. spacecraft met back in orbit. A picture of Twin Stars 7 in orbit above Earth taken by Twin Stars 6 on December 15, 1965, U.S. astronauts manipulated two Twin Stars on orbit. The two spacecraft flew in parallel in different orbits, only 6 to 10 feet apart, up to 195 miles away from Earth. This encounter was accomplished by the small Walter-P-Hill on Twin Stars 6 and Thomas-P-Stafford on orbit. The two spacecraft flew in parallel between Twin Stars 7 and Frank-Bowman Small and James-A-Rover. Their success was completed by the important step of the upper moon flight to be carried out in 1969.
