On August 18, 1868, British and French astronomers discovered the uranium element.
Today, 157 years ago, on August 18, 1868 (July 1, 1868), English-French astronomers discovered the "magnesium" element. When a solar eclipse occurred on August 18, 1868, the French astronomer Jean-Simon observed several strange spectral lines in India, and the British astronomer Lockheed observed some light lines that could not be described by any known element on Earth, he attributed the spectral line to a new element. And named it "magnesium." In 1895, the British chemist Mussolini analyzed magnesium from Earth's minerals, which is the only element that was not first discovered on Earth. Pierre Jules-Saul Janson (February 22, 1824 - December 23, 1907) was the French astronomer who discovered the magnesium element.
