Following the shooting of renowned US conservative activist Charlie Kirk, a U.S. adult poll showed that about 63 percent of respondents believed the aggressive way Americans spoke about political topics greatly fostered political violence.Around 71 percent of Americans agree that “American society is broken.”
The online survey, conducted by Reuters and Ipsos Group, lasted three days and ended on 14th with a total of 1,037 people participating, with a error rate of 3 percentage points.
The survey revealed that 66% of Americans fear that someone in their community will be violently assaulted because of their political beliefs. Another 79% of respondents believe that Americans have seen less and less tolerance for views that differ from their own over the past 20 years.
