Yemeni Houthi Armed Forces Attack Central and Southern Israel
Yemen's Houthi armed forces said on Friday that the group launched attacks on the central Israeli city of Tel Aviv and the southern port city of the Red Sea, Erat, respectively, in response to an Israeli airstrike that day in the western port of Hodeida in Yemen.
Yehaya Saleh, a spokesman for the Houthi armed forces, said in a statement on the Malay TV channel controlled by the group: The group used a “Palestine-2” high-speed ballistic missile to strike a “sensitive target” in southern Tel Aviv and a drone to strike the Ramone airport in Eilat in response to an escalation of Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip and the “aggression” in Yemen.
The Houthi attacks occurred hours after the Israeli military announced an airstrike on the port of Hodeida in Yemen. Houthi armed forces said the airstrike injured several port workers and some facilities were destroyed.
The Israeli Defence Forces issued a statement on Thursday saying that the air force intercepted a missile launched by Yemen's Houthi armed forces that night. Israeli media that the attack did not cause casualties or property losses.
According to Israeli media statistics, since Israel resumed its military operations on the Gaza Strip on March 18, the Houthi armed forces have fired at least 85 ballistic missiles and 37 drones on Israel. The Houthi armed forces recently reiterated that only Israel can stop its aggression and blockade of the Gaza Strip will it stop its attacks on Israel.
