On December 5, 1979, the 34th General Assembly of the United Nations adopted, without a vote, the "Regulations governing the activities of nations on the moon and other celestial bodies", abbreviated as the "Agreement on the moon". The agreement concerns the exploration and use of the moon, the freedom to conduct scientific research, the sampling and protection of minerals, the establishment of moon landing bases and the launching of satellites to the moon.
