On June 25, 1982, Secretary of State Alexander-Hague announced his resignation due to dissatisfaction with foreign policy at the time. In fact, even in the late days of the Nixon administration, Hague began to perform the duties of managing the Elephant Office, and many considered him to be a moderate figure in the conservative Regan Cabinet.
