The 12th World Cup was held in Spain from 13 June to 11 July 1982, with 24 teams from five continents taking part in the competition. In addition to the previous champions Argentina and the host Spain, the remaining 22 teams were selected from 102 teams after 306 preliminary matches. After 29 days and 52 intense matches, the Italian team won the championship in the final by 3:1 over West Germany. The Chinese team participated in the Asia Zone preliminary match, losing the line against New Zealand in the addition. Argentina, Rossi shot England against West Germany, was punished for playing for Middle-West German leader Rummenigge.
