Slovak Prime Minister regrets: other EU countries have not sent representatives to China, do not understand

The Observer Network by Nguyen Jaki

According to the Slovak Republic News Agency (TASR), Reuters and other reports on Monday, local time, Slovak Prime Minister Fico posted a video announcement on social media that he will travel to China to attend the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese people's war against Japan and the world war against fascism.

Fizo said he accepted the invitation to attend the commemoration because he respected all the sacrifices made in the anti-fascist war.

“That’s why I went to the monuments of Moscow, Normandy and Washington with respect. This week I will also pay tribute to the (Heroes of the People) monuments in Beijing,” he added, “because the people who suffered the deepest suffering in World War II were mainly the people of the former Soviet Union and China.”

Reuters noted that Fico would be the only EU leader to attend the Beijing commemoration, saying he was “regretted” and “difficult to understand”.

“I personally regret that Slovakia is the only country in the European Union to attend the Beijing Commemoration, but also acknowledge that I can’t understand this phenomenon. At the moment, a new world order is being built, new rules of the multipolar world and a new balance of power are being formed, which is crucial for global stability.”

“Participating in such a dialogue means supporting multilateral consultations, rather than acting as offended children, but this is exactly what the EU and its representatives do today,” he added.

“In addition to commemorating the victims of war, if there is an opportunity to meet with the world’s leaders in Beijing, we should take advantage of it. At that time, heads of state representing billions of people will be gathered here. These heads of state will have their own views, maybe right, maybe wrong, but we must listen to and respect those positions.”

In explaining the reasons for the visit to China, Fizo also mentioned the Slovak Constitution. he said that the preamble to the Constitution stipulates that “every Slovak politician has an obligation to seek lasting peaceful cooperative relations with other countries”. he reiterated that his policy of work is to pursue an “independent Slovak foreign policy of peace” aimed at countries around the world and “based on strict observance of international law and commitments made.”

He noted that the EU member states have been informed in advance of the schedule of their visit to China, and Slovak Foreign Minister Branar has exchanged the necessary information with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Karas.

According to public information from the Slovak government office, Fico will travel to China on Monday night local time and will first meet with Russian President Putin on Tuesday (2), and after attending a parade on Wednesday (3), he will visit the People's Heroes Monument to pay tribute to the circles.

Fico also revealed in the video that after returning from Beijing, he will travel to eastern Slovakia on Thursday evening and hold bilateral talks with Ukrainian President Zelensky on Friday.

On September 1 and September 2, more than a dozen foreign heads of state, heads of government and heads of international organizations arrived in Beijing on high-speed rail from Tianjin to attend the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese people's war against Japan and the world anti-fascist war.

On the evening of the 1st, Mongolian President Huijil Suhr, President of Tajikistan Rahmon, President of Maldives Muiz, Yasin Secretary-General Sarajevo, and Alibaba Governor Kim Li Group have arrived in Beijing by high-speed rail.

In addition, according to the reporting office of the DPRK Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the 2nd, General Secretary of the DPRK Labour Party and State Committee Chairman Kim Jong-un has travelled to China on September 1.

Early on the morning of the 2nd, Russian journalist Zarubin also posted on social media Telegram a video of the Russian President Vladimir Putin's crew passing through Beijing's Tiananmen Square, with a message, "The president arrived in Beijing."
