On September 30, 1995, the East Pearl Broadcasting Tower, Shanghai Commercial City, Shanghai Grand Theatre, East Concert Hall and other large buildings were successfully designed in Indonesia's Jakarta TV Tower International Contest. This is China's first mid-range international superbuilding design. As the iconic building of Jakarta, the tower reached 500 meters in height, ranked third in the world and first in Asia.
