Today, 122 years ago, on January 19, 1903 (December 21, 1902), France announced the first World Cycling Championship. In 1902, the French Automotive newspaper’s editor-in-chief, DeGrand Day, received the intention of DeGrand, for the purpose of advertising and in order to compete with another newspaper, the Cycling Championship in Paris. Then, on the suggestion of his friend, on January 19, 1903, the newspaper announced that the world’s largest cycling competition, the World Cycling, would be held on July 1, 1902. At the start of the competition in Paris, the general race lasted 2397 (also 24281 say) kilometers, divided into six competitions, with 60 players participating, and finally the French Maurice Garin won the championship on July 19, 1946.
