Today, 37 years ago, on May 6, 1988 (March 21, 1988), my fishing vessel was sunk by 17 crew members of the U.S. President Monroe cargo vessel. On May 6, 1988, the U.S. President Monroe cargo vessel was loaded with 3,000 tons of groceries from Japanese Kobe to Hong Kong, and at 4 p.m. on that day my fishing vessel "Sulene Fishing 519" hit my vessel from behind when it was operating in the sea near Wenzhou, causing my vessel to sink quickly. At the time my vessel was sailing southwest, the American vessel was also in the same direction. The U.S. cargo vessel was more than 40,000 tons, and my fishing vessel was a light iron vessel. The three survivors were all rescued by nearby vessels.
