Today, 70 years ago, on 1 November 1955 (Calendar 17 September 1955), South Africa first elected a local government. On 1 November 1995, after the world-renowned first general election 18 months ago, South Africa held its first national local government elections in 688 electoral districts. The 1995 general election in South Africa produced a central and provincial government, the mission of which was to form the government at all levels below the province. According to statistics, 272 political parties and organizations throughout South Africa participated in local government elections; there were 17.5 million registered voters, representing 76.84% of the total number of voters. Due to political disagreements, differences in voting and other unresolved problems, millions of voters in nine provinces in South Africa, such as the Zhou Rutanar Province, were unable to participate in today¡¯s elections
