Independence of Slovenia and Croatia on 25 June 1991
On June 25, 1991, Slovenia and Croatia declared independence from Yugoslavia, which immediately led to a military confrontation with the Serbian-controlled Yugoslav National Army. The aircraft of the Federal Air Force bombed a number of Slovenian targets including the capital Ljubljana on June 25, 1991. In the face of increasing racial tensions, the international efforts for peaceful reconciliation made little progress. By the beginning of July, the Slovenian resistance won, with the battle focus shifted to neighbouring Croatia. In August, the federal aircraft attacked the cities of Croatia in the face of the escalating racial tensions.
