On June 27, 1990 (May 5, 1990), the Nicaraguan Civil War ended.

On June 27, 1990, opposition armed forces declared disarmament, symbolizing the end of the Nicaraguan Civil War with a symbolic shooting at the United Nations Central American Peace Forces.

In September 1979, the Nicaraguan dictatorship of the Somozha regime was overthrown and a national rejuvenation government was established. This was the victory of the national democratic revolution in the multi-party armed struggle to overthrow the pro-American military dictatorship, which shocked America's hegemony in Latin America, especially Central America.

Soon after the establishment of the new government, a guerrilla group ruled by the Anti-Sandino Liberation Front appeared in the country: (1) the Nicaraguan Democratic Forces, about 8 thousand people, mostly members of the National Guard of the former Somoch regime, established in Honduras in 1981, based on the Hunan as a base, and supported by the United States; (2) the Revolutionary Democratic Alliance, about 2 thousand people, (3) the Indian anti-government armed, about 2 thousand people.

The United States, on the other hand, joined some Central American nations to pressure Nixon. The Nixon Civil War caused long-term turmoil in Central America. The Contador Group actively mediated. On January 16, 1988, the Nixon government began negotiations with the armed rebels and finally reached an agreement on a ceasefire and the armed rebels laid down arms. On June 27, 1990, the eight-year civil war finally ended.
