Today, 219 years ago, on July 12, 1806 (May 26, 1806), the Rhine Federation was founded. The Rhine Federation, also known as the Rhine Union, was a political union established on July 12, 1806, under the protection of France, the southern and central-western states of Germany by signing the Treaty of the Rhine Federation. In December 1805, France and Austria signed the Praesburg Agreement, concluding the third anti-French alliance. In the following year, in order to weaken the power of the Holy Roman Empire, to obtain the various privileges granted by the Holy Roman Emperor in Europe, Napoleon in July ordered the southern and western states of Germany to form an alliance in Paris. On December 12, the agreement was signed, stipulating that from August 1, 1806, the states abandoned the
