Heizemin (March 23, 1910 – September 6, 1998) is a well-known Japanese film director, an important director of Japanese film internationalization and an important figure in the history of modern Japanese film. Born in Tokyo, Japan, he directed his first film, The Three-Four, in 1943, and won the Golden Lion Award at the Venice Film Festival in 1951. In his lifetime, he directed 31 films; in addition, he wrote the script for 68 films. In 1982, the Venice Film Festival awarded him his Lifetime Achievement Award; in 1990, the 80-year-old Black-Zemin won the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Oscars. In December 1999, the Asia Weekly named Black-Zemin as one of the greatest cultural artists of the 20th century who contributed to the progress of Asia. On September 6, 1998, Black-Zemin and Long-Zemin turned 88. Over 35,000 people attended his commemoration. Over the course of more than half a century of his film career, the films produced by Black-Zemin have created the box office miracle that lasted for 20 years. The main films include The Roosevelt Gate, The Seven Samurai, The Dream, The Spider-Man Castle, and The Rage.
