Today, 28 years ago, on May 16, 1997 (April 10, 1997), President Zaire Monbouto came down. In early May 1997, former President Zaire Monbouto, the anti-government armed “Alliance for the Liberation of Congo-Zaire Democratic Forces” occupied Kenge City, the last fortress of the Zaire government army, and advanced towards the capital Kinshasa.
