In particular, his play "The Weaver", which was based on the Silesian Weavers Uprising in 1844, has epoch-making significance. For the first time, the oppressed and exploited workers in the script stepped onto the stage as heroes. The script points out to people that keeping one's place can only lead to the murder of the enemy. Only by fighting is the only way to survive. Lenin attached great importance to this script in the preparatory stage of the 1905 revolution. Lenin personally reviewed the translation of The Weaver.

When World War I began, Roman Roland, a French philosopher, wrote to him asking him to criticize the war, but he refused.
