Hitler sentenced to five years in prison for Beer Hotel riots

Hitler's Munich Beer Hotel

On April 1, 1924, the Nazi leader of Germany, Adolf Hitler, was sentenced to five years in prison for a November 1923 abortion riot at the Munich Beer Hotel.

The sixty journalists who covered the trial, most of whom thought it was a lighter sentence, described Hitler as a national hero and put his name on the front pages of newspapers all over the world.

Hitler was protected by the Bavarian Minister of Justice during the trial, and the judge allowed him to interrogate and interrogate witnesses at random. Hitler cited Wagner's name, who portrayed himself as the soul of German nationalism and the enemy of Marxism, and vowed that prison would not destroy his will.

“You can condemn us a thousand times,” Hitler said, “but the goddess of the eternal court of history will crush the excerpts of the prosecutor’s lawsuit and the judgment of this court.”

After the defeat of the Munich uprising in November 1923, the main participants of the trial were photographed from left to right: Penet, Weber, Frick, Klebell, Rudendorf, Hitler, Brooklyn, Rom and Wagner.
