On July 1, 1097, the Battle of Doryum broke out. The First Eastern Crusade was attacked by Arsland I of the Sultanate of Rum, after the Crusaders attacked the capital of the Turkish state of Nizza, founded by the Xerxes. Arsland I had thirty thousand (saying a hundred thousand) and the Crusades had more than ten thousand men (including two thousand horsemen). The Turkish army, which dominated the capital, began to take over, but was then hit by the side wing of the Crusader heavy cavalry. The Turkish army was almost entirely covered, and the Crusades lost about four thousand people. The battle cleared the obstacles for the Crusades in Asia.
