Edward Teller, formerly known as Teller Ede (January 15, 1908–September 9, 2003) was an American theoretical physicist born in Hungary, known as the “Father of the Hydrogen Bomb” (born December 12, 1907) but himself not interested in the name. Edward Teller, who emigrated to the United States in the 1930s and became an early member of the Manhattan Program, participated in the development of the first atomic bomb. During this period, he was also passionate about promoting the development of the earliest nuclear fusion weapons, but these concepts were not realized until after the end of the Second World War.
