May 22, 1969 U.S. anti-Vietnam war campaign
Today, more than 56 years ago, on May 22, 1969 (Calendar 7 April 1969), the U.S. anti-Vietnam campaign erupted. Police arrested anti-war students in Berkeley on May 22, from New York to California, students occupied the university campus, protesting against the Vietnam War, and demanded wider participation in the management of the university. At Columbia University, 100 students collided everywhere after issuing student arrest certificates and fled from the two buildings they occupied. These protesters were members of the "Student Democracy Association" and they demanded to stop recruiting in the university, cancel the "Reserve Military Training Team" and establish a black study program.
