Today, 58 years ago, on January 19, 1967 (Lunar Calendar December 9, 1966) the U.S. military casualties in the Vietnam War week reached the highest point. Selected by the Black Lens Chinese Literature Publishing Agency on January 19, 1967, South Vietnam broke two records. The Pentagon was not proud of any of them. This week the U.S. military casualties were the highest in the Vietnam War, with 144 dead and 1,044 wounded. Six people disappeared in the battle. This total number is clear evidence of the U.S. deeper involvement in the Vietnam War. They also pointed to the mystery and deceit of guerrilla warfare. Most were wounded by mines and traps when they went out to patrol.
